Confirmation and L'Taken
For students in 10th grade, Confirmation is a year of exploring Jewish philosophy, strengthening Jewish identity, and putting values into action through leadership and advocacy.
Learners in 10th grade participate in Confirmation, which involves weekly study with the Rabbis to explore Jewish philosophy, theology, and beliefs to help teens develop and strengthen their Jewish identities. In the spring, they lead a Confirmation service which includes developing thoughtful personal statements.
Confirmation participants are also eligible to attend the L’Taken Social Justice Seminar in Washington, D.C. L’Taken brings together Reform teens from across the United States to learn about public policy, connect Jewish values to advocacy, and speak truth to power when they lobby members of Congress on Capitol Hill about issues important to our community. It is a very powerful and uplifting experience for Jewish teens – an opportunity to put everything they have learned about Jewish values into practice.
Post-Confirmation, 11th and 12th graders are invited to participate in internships through the RAC and the URJ as well as additional social action opportunities.
